Now you can book tickets to ride new, shiny Thai trains

State Railway of Thailand announced today that the public can now grab tickets to ride their new, comfortable trains — and the news has spread that they’re selling out fast.

The new set of 115 cars, purchased from China, feature passionate red seats, warm water in the showers, plugs to charge your phone, and LCD touch screens from which you can order food to your seat.

The trains will run on four round-trip routes including Bangkok – Chiang Mai and Bangkok – Ubon Ratchathani, which will start operating on Nov. 11. The Bangkok-Nong Khai and Bangkok – Hat Yai routes will kick off on Dec. 2.

The four routes are all overnight trains.

The public now can book their tickets for the Bangkok – Chiang Mai and Bangkok – Ubon Ratchathani routes at all train stations or through the 24-hour call center at 1690. The prices start from THB731 to THB1,459, depending on the route and type of the tickets.

The tickets for Nong Khai and Hai Yai route will open sales on Oct. 29, starting from THB748 – THB1,594.

This is exciting news — and a big improvement from this scenario where someone decided it was totally fine to put their massive kettle on floor during a bumpy train ride.

How much Mama were they planning on making anyway?
