An annual elephant round-up show in Surin province will be replaced with an activity to mourn the late King Rama IX during 16-20 November.
Surin Provincial Public Relations official Amnuay Radaboot said the organizing committee for Surin Elephant Round-up, earlier scheduled for 11-22 November, decided to cancel the event due to the nationwide mourning of the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
However, an event featuring 300 elephants of Surin will be held to express condolences to the late monarch during 16-20 November, reported Thai News Bureau
Surin Elephant Round-up is an annual performance and parade of elephants, considered as an important animal of the northeastern province and of Thailand.
