Creepy cabbie arrested for hitting on passenger, refusing to let her exit vehicle

A taxi driver has been arrested following a viral video of him “flirting” with an uncomfortable female passenger in the backseat and allegedly refusing to let her leave the car.

Cabbie Sathaporn Tao-iam, 43, was caught outside a shopping mall in Rangsit on Saturday. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.

An arrest warrant for Sathaporn was issued after a 21-year-old college student, Chulalak Chamsakorn, posted a video of her encounter with him where he asked for her phone number and commented on her appearance when she rode in his taxi on Oct. 25, Thairath reported.

In the video, the taxi driver asked for Chulalak’s number so he could “begin his courtship.” He also said the passenger “could be an actress” and asked her how tall she was.

On Facebook, Chulalak wrote that the taxi driver then tried to suggest another route to her destination and refused to let her leave the car when she asked.

At the end, Chulalak said she had a group call with her friends on speaker and threatened to file a police report, so he would stop the car.

According to police, this was not the first time he allegedly traumatized female passengers as other victims have come forward, Sanook reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
