As of today, the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha have reopened to the public in order to keep Thailand’s economy moving.
Tourists can now visit Thailand’s most iconic landmarks every day from 8am to 3:30pm. They will be required to go through a body scanner as a part of security measures.
As the streets around the attractions remain closed, tourists are recommended to walk from Rattanakosin Hotel or Saphan Chang Rong Si Junction or take a boat from to Maharaj Pier and entering the attraction using the Wiset Chai Sri gate, according to Thairath.
All routes require walking about two kilometers to reach the Grand Palace.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has informed numerous tourist agencies and hotels about the etiquette of visiting the Grand Palace during the mourning period. Tourists are advised to wear dark-colored clothing and remain modest during their visit.
For people who wish to pay respect to late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, they can use the Manee Nopparat gate.
The ministry has also confirmed that there will be no cancellations of Thai festivals, such as Loy Krathong. Tourists are still welcome to visit the kingdom, but in a respectful manner, reported Voice TV.
