No beer garden, New Year’s countdown at CentralWorld this winter

Although entertainment will resume in the nation in two weeks after a month of mourning for HM The King, Central Pattana announced today there will be no beer garden outside CentralWorld shopping mall this year.

No specific reason was given as to why CentralWorld — one of the most popular spots in Bangkok to sip cold beer in the winter and celebrate New Year’s Eve will not hold a countdown this year, Morning News reported.

Meanwhile, Thai Asia Pacific Brewery (TAP) which operates beer labels Heineken, Cheers, and Tigers will not organize outdoor beer gardens to promote their products this year.

TAP’s Corporate Relations and Legal Director Prin Malakul Na Ayuthaya said it is not appropriate at this time and the people may not be in the mood to celebrate.

Edmond Kimsun, CEO of Chang International, also gave the same answer — there will be no Chang beer gardens this year.
