After fatal accident, 70 piers closed tonight during Loy Krathong

Piers throughout Bangkok will be closed tonight in the wake of the fatal accident of a man drowning after falling from Khlong Saen Saeb pier Thursday.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said that it will close 70 damaged piers as of Friday throughout Bangkok, reported Khaosod English.

The piers included are some that are popular viewpoints on most Loy Krathongs. They include the piers at Phra Athit, Wang Lang, Wat Dao Khanong and Khlong San Market.

However, parks around they city will be open as they always are for the candle-floating celebration. Step into Benjakiti, Lumpini, Chatuchak, and many other parks around Bangkok from 5pm until midnight to float your banana leaf boat.
