Gourmet District: Everything you need to know about Silom’s stylish new dining experience

PRESENTED BY

When you think of Bangkok’s iconic riverside structure State Tower, a certain rooftop restaurant probably comes to mind, where a certain movie about a certain gang of dudes having a certain epic adventure in Bangkok took place, but ANYWAY…

We’re not here to talk hangovers and Bradley Cooper (but Bradley, if you’re reading this, come baaack! Bangkok needs you!). No, we’re here to introduce you to State Tower’s new café and restaurant, Gourmet District.

Mark our words, Gourmet District will soon be the new ‘it’-spot for chillin’, sippin’ and Instagrammin’ in the heart of Silom’s business district, thanks to the beautiful décor, relaxing music, menu of classic Thai fusion favorites and lots and lots of quality coffee.

If you’re rushing around Silom doing errands and going to meetings, pop in here for a moment of calm sophistication. The décor sets the mood with cool neo-classical inspired interiors in calming earth tones. Lush hanging ferns and a black and white tiled floor complete the space. Need a new lunch spot to impress clients? Found it!

An outdoor terrace with plush sofas makes a cozy little brunch spot for more intimate meetings. Ahem, Tinder dates. The garden-like atmosphere emphasizes natural beauty, simplicity and succeeds in making each dining moment memorable. (Even if your IRL date is not. Wink, wink.)

The menu of modern Thai-Italian fusion has a lot going for it, too. Start with a bowl of creamy Pumpkin Soup or go for a crisp, fresh Feta Cheese Salad with signature house dressing. And just when you’re starting to worry that you won’t see one chili during the whole meal, here come the mains.

Classic Western dishes get a Thai update with fresh local ingredients and a bold blend of seasoning. Dig into the spicy Spaghetti Bacon or Spaghetti Green Curry. Feels like comfort food but tastes gourmet! We like. We like very much.

Another standout on Gourmet District’s menu is the crepe. Say oui to the savory Ham and Egg and bonjour to the aptly titled France Crepe. Although not too creative in name, this naughty treat makes up for it with bananas, chocolate, strawberries and whipped cream. We’ll forgive anything for all that lot in one place!

The drinks and coffee menu also has something for everyone, from those annoying coffee snobs (here’s your espresso) to your friend who likes coffee with her sugar (just order a coffee milkshake!) and that one lunch buddy who’s suddenly on a health kick (he’ll have a juice, hold everything else).

And you? We recommend you order up a Café Mocha for a rich blend of coffee and chocolate or a Caramel Macchiato, a creamy espresso drink with a heaped dollop of gooey caramel.

Gourmet District is open from 9am-10pm daily. Don’t forget to take a photo and check in on social media, because everyone needs some more deliciousness in their newsfeed!
