Free Freeway: Motorway fees removed over New Year holiday

The Cabinet has endorsed a decision to exempt motorway fees for the public as a New Year’s gift.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said that toll fees for Motorway Number Seven and Number Nine will be exempted for all commuters during the New Year’s holiday. The two motorways run from Bangkok to Chonburi and from Bang Pa-In to Bang Phli respectively, reported Thai News Bureau.

The exemption will be effective for seven days starting on midnight December 29th and running until midnight of January 4th, 2017. Arkhom said the move was to reduce traffic congestion at the entrances of both motorways during the long holiday period and to ensure that holidaymakers will have a pleasant trip.
