Pad Farang: Thais view video of expat lady selling Pad Thai 1.5 million times, can’t get enough!

Thai social media is exploding today with a magical video of a farang lady doing something that they didn’t know farangs were capable of — making Pad Thai!

The woman, identified as Claire from London in the video, is apparently working as a street food vendor in the Khaosan area. She speaks the Isaan-Thai dialect and has a lengthy Thai conversation in the video with a customer who was filming her. She mentions that she can speak Laotian as well.

In the conversation, Claire notes that she has a Thai boyfriend and that they are farmers in Mukdahan, in Northeast Thailand, where they have pigs and buffalo.

Perhaps the family buffalo is sick and that’s why she’s making Pad Thai on Khaosan?

What might be the most amazing thing about the video is that she has this long Thai conversation while also making Pad Thai! Yes, Pad Thai!

The 2:13 clip was posted to the Nattapon Brian Sri Chan Facebook page. Her customer goes on to casually ask her, “You’re in Mukdahan, why don’t you teach English?”

Claire simply replied: “I don’t have time. I don’t love kids. I love pigs.”

Awesome lady.

The customer then said he was also from the Isaan province of Yasothon. They went on to have a great chat in their local dialect. She told him he should stop by her shop again.

While the video is fascinating, we’re left with one burning question: Is her Pad Thai any good?

The video received positive feedback from Thai netizens. Many commented she’s adorable or “narak.”
