Awesome Animals: Every time animals captured our hearts and imaginations this year

Animals have touched our hearts so many times this year. Whether it’s been in sad, funny, touching or awesome ways, our love for animals is unstoppable. They have showed up at schools, in 7-Elevens, on piers and in our hearts.

Here are the best animal stories of the last year:

This good-looking tuxedo kitty has become one the internet idols of 2016. She clawed her way to fame when netizens in Nakhon Sri Thammarat caught photos and videos of her enjoying morning commutes across town attached to the back of her owner on the back of a motorbike.

Her fame only increased when we found out a bit about her backstory from her owner, who explained that he doesn’t like to leave his little formal-clad lady at home alone during the day.

We love you tuxedo kitty!

Pictures of cats in 7-Eleven stores became so beloved over the last year that they got their own super-popular Facebook group. Just check out all these pictures of snoozy felines chilling out in the air conditioning at everyone’s favorite convenience stores.

Though they don’t have any money, they’d be happy to share some milky, meaty, or fishy snacks with you.

This happy puppy is very lucky to have a skilled massage therapist for a daddy and a funny one at that. This dog looks to be in seventh in a viral video where he has his head and neck rubbed by a man who jokes that the dog only returned to him as a customer after the infamous Nataree massage parlor was shut down.

However, we’re sure that this story has a happy ending.

This dog, Shortie, is a fixture on the campus on Chiang Mai University and likes to consider himself just one of the boys among the male students. He feels so much like part of the crew, that he joined the freshmen boys in a ritual where they run up the 14 kilometer hill of Doi Suthep together.

Awwwww! Go Shortie!

These photos of elephants making merit in the forest, as they place offerings into a monk’s alms bowl, had many people questioning their legitimacy, but the monk in the photos, taken in Surin, insisted that they are legit.

This inspiring pup, Cola, lost two legs in a horrific attack of cruelty by a human. He persevered the horrible incident and was granted two prosthetic legs and a new home with one of the founders of the Soi Dog Foundation. This viral video shows Cola trying out his new legs.

This orangutan got amorous feelings for a woman that visited his home at Safari World. When she goes up to pose for a photo with the orangutan, he cheekily wraps his arms around her body and begins to grope her breasts.

When the zoo staff yell at him to stop, he gives a big toothy grin. Naughty monkey!

Mosha, the elephant that lives in Lampang and is famous throughout the world for being the first elephant to wear a prosthetic limb, was fitted with a new leg this year and the video of her trying out the new limb went viral.

It seems that the world just can’t get enough of Mosha!

This sad dog broke our collective hearts this year. The hound was seen sitting and waiting at Rama V pier so often that locals figured out that she had fallen off the boat where she was living with her owner.

The dog was seen waiting there daily for over a month while netizens started a campaign to find the pup a new home. Fortunately, she was adopted by a kind woman who named her “Pier.”

This weird tale tells of a 7-Eleven in Uthai Thani that has something better than a dog or cat, this shop has its own mule! Photos of a small mule hanging around a 7-Eleven went viral. According to locals who chimed in on these photos, donkeys, mules and horses are everywhere in Uthai Thani, and this is far from the only one chilling at a Seven.

Okay, we’re planning to move to Uthai Thani.

And last, but never least, this story of a boy who rides a horse to school captured everyone’s heart in 2016. This story of the boy, who is the caretaker of the horse and rides it to school each day, went viral with people even contacting Coconuts to ask how much it would cost to purchase the horse for the boy.
