It turns out that the crocodile that residents of flooded Nakhon Si Thammarat dined on was neither on the loose from a zoo or a wild crocodile that came in with the flood, but rather farm-raised.
After the photos of southern folks’ latest feast went viral, it has been revealed that the story behind the meal was simpler than what was first presented. The people of Nakhon Si Thammarat didn’t kill and cook a crocodile that they encountered randomly.
Kasidit Kurenine Tumwisissak, the man who appears in the photos, explained on Facebook that the crocodile was actually from a farm that has been legally registered. The unfortunate crocodile escaped the farm during the flood but was caught, and the owner decided to kill it and share its meat with neighbors.
“Since we didn’t know any better, we posted photos of the crocodile that was carved, and caused damage to society. The farm’s owner wants to apologize and would like to ask everyone to stop sharing this news. Thank you,” wrote Kasidit.
Meanwhile, staff at the local zoo said that the two-meter-high floodwater level has decreased. Two of the four crocodiles are safe in their places. Although giant crocs “Sao” and “Nadia” are still missing, the staff believes that they are “probably” in the zoo, as they would have had to climb over the fence to get out, Daily News reported.
While we are not sure what Kasidit was apologizing for, we are worried for Sao and Nadia and hope they will be found safe soon.
