Malay man drives 2500 km to get 3 million baht back from Thai ex-wife

A Malaysian businessman drove across the border to Khon Kaen after he was tricked into transfering THB3 million to his Thai wife, who then left him after she got the money.

Indra Palawan Bin Ahmad Awaluddin, 50, reportedly drove 2500 kilometers to Isaan to file a complaint with the Khon Kaen Tourist Police.

Last year Awaluddin’s wife, who’s only identified as a 32-year-old Khon Kaen woman,  encouraged him to invest in a sugarcane plantation, so he transferred money to her. However, at the end of the year, she left him, so Awaluddin came after her to get his THB3 million back.

Police said that Awaluddin owns a hotel on a Malaysian island. He met his Thai wife in the southern city of Hat Yai 11 years ago. They got married and relocated to Malaysia.

Documents proved that he transferred money several times to a Bangkok Bank account that belongs to the woman’s father. The police accepted his report and will proceed with the case, Sanook reported.
