Sathorn Super Snake! 5-meter python sunning itself in expats’ yard this morning (PHOTOS)

One European expat family got a surprise this morning when their neighbors came knocking on their door at 8am. Turns out, they had a 5-meter python lounging in their yard, just a few minutes away from BTS Chong Nonsi station.

When rescue workers came to collect the massive snake, which had hidden itself in the family’s mango tree once it saw that it had drawn attention to itself, they lowered it out of the tree and into a bag.

They also disclosed, from its tummy bulge, that the snake had recently eaten a cat — or a rat big enough that none of us need to know about it.

For those of you that thought these snakes were only seen in the far outskirts of the city and beyond, it’s not unheard of to see these beasts in leafy neighborhoods. The father of the Sathorn family said that he had seen a similar one in front of their home about six months ago, but he never saw it again after the first sighting.

To report unwieldy animals in your yard, call rescue volunteers at 199, it would probably help if you can speak a bit of Thai.
