Company fined for decorating garbage truck with mannequin parts

You’ve seen Thai taxi and truck drivers pimping their vehicles with Doraemon plush toys, money from around the world and endless amulets, but when motorists spotted a garbage truck with what looked like a human foot and hand sticking out of the rear bumper, authorities had to take action.

The Department of Land Transport’s Kampang Saen office, in Nakhon Pathom, summoned the operator of the eighteen-wheeler yesterday, after it scared the hell out of motorists on the road.

As suspected, the parts are from a mannequin not a human body, according to Charin Somta, 51, supervisor of the drivers at Sor Samdao Charoensap Company, who represented the driver of the pimped-out truck.

Charin said his driver, Banyat Sawatram, 49, was transporting garbage from Bangkok to a landfill in Nakhon Pathom. Banyat claimed he didn’t put the mannequin parts there and suspected a staff member at the landfill had done it because they always play pranks on each other.

The Department of Land Transport fined the company THB4,000 for causing a distraction on the road as well as for the poor condition of the truck and a damaged license plate, Workpoint TV reported.
