Niece of Vietnam War soldier searching for Thai woman her uncle fell in love with

An American woman is attempting to fulfill her deceased uncle’s final request by searching for the woman he met in Thailand as a young soldier in the Vietnam War — the woman he loved until his last day.

The Thai Facebook page Roads Go Ever On said they were asked by an American woman to help share a photo of her uncle Larry Fravel, a G.I. who was stationed at U-Tapao air base in Rayong during the war. In his arms was a beautiful Thai woman, who was his lost love.

The photograph was taken between 1962-1972, and it was the only reminder of her that Fravel had when he had to return to his country. After a long life in solitude, Fravel showed this photograph to his family and told them how resentful he was for not staying in Thailand and marrying this woman.

After he passed away, Fravel’s niece passed on this photograph to the Thai people to help her look for this woman so that she could give her a message from her uncle — that the former young soldier still thought of her until the last day of his life.

The Facebook page encouraged anyone who has information about this Thai woman to contact them so they could connect her with Fravel’s family.

The page’s admin posted an update yesterday that an old woman identified herself as Fravel’s lost love and showed them photographs of herself and a young soldier, but unfortunately, that soldier she fell in love with was not Fravel.
