This morning, a Thai woman complained on Facebook about being overcharged at a Phuket food stall. She posted a picture of her bill as well as a photo of her meal. For two plates of rice with stir-fried shrimp and holy basil, one beer and one water, she was charged THB420.
The krapow gung itself costs THB150 per dish, three times higher than the regular street food price.
The post got 1,000 likes and over 180 comments. She wrote, “What do you guys think of this bill and this dish? I was here not long ago and now the price is much higher. Sad, THB150 for 3 shrimp and I also had to wait one hour for it.”
Some commenters on the post agreed that it was too expensive, while others said she should have checked the prices on the menu first. One comedian implied that she was splashing out by ordering an egg and that, of course, that would make the meal more expensive, reported Phuket Gazette.
The owner of the street-side restaurant in question, Ratri Sommart, said that he began running the “Sri Peuak Restaurant” two months ago and that the prices on some dishes had changed.
While the woman was still at the stall last night, she posted a photo of herself giving the middle finger on her Facebook page.
