Budget airlines will start collecting a THB150 tax surcharge from domestic flyers following an increased tax on fuels by the Excise Department.
AirAsia, Nok Air and Lion Air have announced that they will include the surcharge in their ticket prices to reflect the new, increased operations cost after the staggering jet fuel tax increase, from 20 satang to 4 baht, became effective on Jan. 25.
AirAsia has implemented the surcharge today while Nok Air and Lion Air will increase their ticket prices from Feb. 6 onwards, Thairath reported.
