Sorry, out of coins: MaxValue supermarket gives candies for change

When 25 satang and 50 satang coins run out, stores face a problem — they cannot provide change to customers, so one branch of MaxValue supermarket came up with a sweet solution.

An announcement put up at one MaxValue store went viral on Facebook recently. It said: “As the Royal Thai Mint has temporarily stop producing 25 and 50 satang coins until further notice, we would like to give you candies instead of the aforementioned satang for change. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your business.”

The announcement also said that the store accepts an exchange of 25 and 50 satang coins, if you’re looking to get rid of yours.

But in all fairness, who keeps satang coins anyway? In case you don’t know, one hundred satang is one baht.

We’d very much prefer candies.
