Comedy caper “Lost in Thailand” has become the highest-grossing Chinese film ever with over 1 billion yuan (THB5 billion) in box office earnings.
The movie was shot around Bangkok and Chiang Mai with a low budget and released on Dec. 12.
The film’s success is expected to increase the Kingdom’s popularity with Chinese tourists – last year 2.5 million Chinese visited Thailand.
“Avatar” is still the highest-grossing overall film in China though, with 1.4 billion yuan (THB7 billion) in receipts.
“Lost in Thailand” is about a pair of co-workers looking for their companie’s biggest shareholder to approve a contract.
The trailer is below. Looks pretty wacky.
