Better than spring break: The Ramkhamhaeng Soi 65 college party scene

Want to live like a college student? Head over to Ramkhamhaeng Soi 65 for cheap booze, even cheaper food, and a hopping college bar scene. Soi Ram 65 is Thonglor on a diet—far less glamorous but just as fun. It’s Silom without the sleaze, but there are still lots of hormone-fueled students and short-time accommodations. The food and the booze? Well, it’s all geared towards the students too, which means it’s incredibly affordable.

Ram 65’s selection of local haunts is arranged perfectly for hopping around, so start the night out at Fun Fact to kill a tower or two with friends, and make sure to order the muu dad diew here, as the pork serving is sizeable, succulent, and oily, not like the too-thin, dried out pork strips usually served at other bars.  This is also a great spot to people watch, the student dominated crowd from all over the kingdom includes the Northern fair-skinned beauties, the Southern bad boys, and a whole host of characters in between.  The music isn’t half-bad either.

After a healthy does of Leo, some more grub is usually in order. It’s easy to stop at any of the khao geng shops while en route to the next bar, and there are conveniently located 711s to help you keep the buzz going.

Options after Fun Fact include a number of small bars that follow the same outdoor seating, acoustic music and cheap beer formula. Being a “college town” means you can score a big bottle of Leo for as low as THB50 at some bars.  WANT and Relax are both good options to get a few more in before heading to more happening venues.

The final stop on a good Ram 65 night is most definitely the soi’s only club: Noir. This club is chock full of baller status Ramkhamhaeng students. Come here if you’re ready to get into a bottle, as the service staff isn’t entirely concerned about timeliness.

At Noir, you may recognize some of the same faces from Fun Fact; when it comes to dancing Noir is the only game in town. The club is open until the wee hours of the morning, often times dying down at around 4am. In the event that you’ve acquired some company, the Fashion Hotel next door might come in handy to rest up before heading home.
