Bangkok adding more parks in green spaces initiative

Bangkok City Hall has approved plans to build a 100-rai park in the far western Bang Bon district of the Thai capital.

The move is part of an initiative to add more green spaces to Bangkok, The Bangkok Post reported.

The city has been granted a lease by the Crown Property Bureau to turn the 100-rai piece of land into a park, Deputy Bangkok Governor Vallop Suwandee said yesterday.

City Hall is currently designing the THB150 million park. The design process should be completed by April and the park will take roughly one year to build.

Another green spaces project the city is working on involves turning a 21-rai plot of land in Ram intra into a dog recreation area, Mr. Vallop said.

The city’s plan to add 5,000 rai of green spaces to Bangkok is almost finished, he said, with only 885 rai left to turn into parks.
