Ex-girlfriend suspected in Lat Krabang grenade death

Police have identified an ex-girlfriend as a suspect in the death of the man killed in a freak grenade explosion in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district yesterday.

The victim, Wanchai Noomdee, was threatened when he broke up with his ex a few months ago and assaulted on his way to work on Feb. 15, the Nation reported.

Jarakhe Noi police chief Colonel Paponpat Tangjitjarupat said that the ex-girlfriend would be brought in for questioning.

Wanchai’s new girlfriend, who has also been brought in for questioning, said that they had noticed a plastic bag blocking the back wheel of their truck when they were leaving a housing estate for work yesterday.

The bag exploded just after Wanchai moved it, critically injuring him. He died on the way to the hospital.

Police have also identified an argument Wanchai had with neighbors over a parking space as a potential motive, but Papongpat said that he though the issue was probably too trivial to spark a murder.
