Expressway tolls set to increase this fall

Earlier this week, Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) governor Aiyanat Tinarpai announced that tolls on the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway (Route 1) and the Si Rat Expressway (Route 2) would be increased, starting September 1, 2013.

Tolls will increase at that date by roughly THB5 per vehicle.

Four-wheeled vehicles will be charged THB45 to THB50, six to 10-wheeled vehicles will be charged THB70 to THB80 and vehicles with more than 10 wheels will be charged THB100 to THB115.

According to the Bangkok Post, the expressway operator contract stipulates that the operator can raise the toll once every five years by an amount based on the inflation rate and the consumer price index.
