Human trafficking sting in Bangkok Noi nets suspects

Thailand’s Woman and Child Welfare Division conducted a human trafficking recently that resulted in the arrest of several suspects in Bangkok’s Bangkok Noi District.

Police first went undercover as drug dealers on Charansanitwong Soi 25 and arrested Patchara Sangthongprow, 32; Matima Prangthawon, age 33; and Vichuda Laokam, 28, TANN reported.

The three arrested women then gave police leads that led them to Wanna Thongtha, 20, allegedly a panderer for prostitutes aged 15 to 18.

It’s unclear from the TANN story, but it sounds like police got Wanna to deliver prostitutes to them in a sting deal and then arrested him and the prostitutes.

Later at the police station, a relative of Patchara named Suratchada Kaweesuth offered police THB20,000 to let Patchara go.

Officers promptly charged Suratchada with bribery and arrested her.
