Iranian drug smuggler arrested at Suvarnabhumi says he was hired by ‘Thai Buddhist’

Customs police at Suvarnabhumi Airport arrested an Iranian man for smuggling four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine into Thailand last Thursday.

Customs Department director general Somchai Poolsavasdi said that 34-year-old Racho Boroman was arrested upon arriving on a flight from United Arab Emirates with plastic bags of meth in his suitcase. Boromon said he was hired by a “Thai Buddhist” to smuggle drugs into Thailand multiple times and was paid THB300,000 each time. He told investigators that he had lived in Thailand for over three years and owned a coffee shop in the Pratunam area, the Bangkok Post reported.

Somchai said the suspect had travelled in and out of Thailand eight times. He might also have been involved in the smuggling of crystal meth on May 22, 2012, he said.
