NBTC: Prepaid SIM cards have to be registered

The Nation is reporting that the days of anonymous SIM card purchases are fast coming to an end.

The National Broadcast and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has set Jan. 18 as the date by which all telecom operators will have to register purchasers of prepaid SIM cards. Those operators who fail to adhere to the new rules can face unspecified penalties.
