Pongsapat attempts to woo transgendered voters with YouTube clip

In an attempt to garner votes from transgendered citizens in the upcoming gubernatorial election, Pheu Thai candidate Pongsapat Pongcharoen last Friday released a YouTube video clip highlighting his policy of promoting sexual diversity in Bangkok.

The one-minute clip, entitled “United Differences,” showed up three days ago on his official YouTube channel, PongsapatBKK, and has garnered more than 15,000 views. On Pongsapat’s Facebook public page, the clip received massive attention from almost 100,000 fans with over 7,500 likes, 527 shares and almost 600 comments.

“Bangkok must be the place where people understand and accept sexual diversity,” Pongsapat said in the clip. “Bangkok must not only accept their different lifestyles but also offer space for them to exhibit their creativity and to drive the city forward.”

The clip is the second most popular on Pongsapat’s online channel, which houses 13 total videos. It shows smiling images of gay, lesbian and transgender citizens. The top two commentators most succinctly summarize the 75 comments under the clip:

“There are just a few politicians who care the LGBT groups. And Pongsapat is one of them. Thank you for paying attention to us,” wrote NinaLadyboy.

“What do you want to do after all? Please explain it in a concrete manner,” said bluepetgla.
