Red Bull heir’s arraignment pushed back a month to May 8

The prosecutor at the Bangkok Criminal Court has postponed the arraignment date for Vorayuth Yoovidhya, 28-year-old son of a senior Red Bull executive, by one month. His arraignment is now set for the morning of May 8.

Vorayuth stands accused of manslaughter, hit-and-run and speeding after allegedly crashing his Ferrari into the rear of a police officer’s motorcycle in Sept. of 2012, an incident that resulted in the officer’s death.

Police have since fielded accusations that Vorayuth’s prosecution has proceeded at an uncommonly slow pace, thanks to his family connections. Indeed, six months transpired between when the event took place and when Metropolitan Police handed over what seemed a very cut-and-dry case to prosecutors.

The Nation reports that at present, court’s attorney general Seksan Bangsomboon is considering the charge prior to Vorayuth’s arraignment.
