Taxi driver finds THB100,000 in cash, seeks owner

On Jan. 21, a taxi driver from Nakhon Ratchasima found THB100,000 worth of cash in US and Burmese currency and is now attempting to return it to its owner.

On Monday morning between 7 and 8am, 56-year-old Sudjai Chaihabood picked up a Caucasian man on Soi Sukhumvit 31 and carried him to Suvarabhumi Airport. He later found out that his passenger had forgotten a yellow bag filled with banknotes in the cab’s back seat.

Sudjai drove around the airport a few times in the hopes that the owner would realize he had lost the money and come out to take it back.

“I am not comfortable spending other people’s money,” said Sudjai. “I have been a taxi driver for 20 to 30 years and this is my fist time that I discovered this much money. I just wish to return it to the owner as soon as possible”

The driver describes his passenger as 50 to 60 years old, 170 centimeters tall and very fluent in Thai. The money’s owner is reportedly a Thailand-based businessman who was taking a short trip to Myanmar.

According to Khaosod, the owner can claim the money at the office of FM91, a traffic report radio station, or can call toll free at 1644 for more information.
