Coconuts Bangkok’s Top Five May Stories

It’s was a busy May for us here at Coconuts Bangkok. First we launched our re-designed website, then two important ladies came to town. Here’s a look at our most popular stories last month. 

1. CREEPY: Sound of babies crying led cops to six fetuses in Chinatown
This eerie tale went viral on the interwebs and was by far our most popular story in May.

2. Bangkok is top city for Facebookers in the world, as Asia fuels growth
Does Bangkok really have the most Facebook users in the world? It’s impossible to know for sure, but trusted audience measuring site Socialbakers says it does. Coconuts Bangkok broke this story, which was then picked up by the Wall Street Journal, Singapore tech blog Tech in Asia, and Silicon Valley tech blog Pando Daily.

3. Lady Gaga in Bangkok: 50,000 Little Monsters rejoice at Born This Way Ball
Lady Gaga burned down the house at Rajamangala Stadium on May 25 and 50,000 Little Monsters were there to witness what will go down in history as one of the best shows ever in Thailand.

4. Quincing the Night Away: The pop-ups that got Bangkok salivating
Dan Waites’s article on local celeb chef Jess Barnes and his soon-to-open sustainable and ethical eatery Quince got lots of readers salivating.

5. MP salutes Hitler on Thailand Parliament floor
What the was he thinking? The Nation called it a “hi-hitler salute.” At least the politicians have cleaned up their act and started behaving lately. Oh wait. No they haven’t.
