Ladyboys to make the skies more friendly

Thailand’s newly launched P.C. Air, the first airline in the world to hire transexuals as flight attendants, is now ready for takeoff.

The airline’s maiden flight from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to Vientiane, Laos will take place on Dec. 24 for a charter tour group, according to the Bangkok Post. The airline also plans to launch charter flights to two Chinese cities in 2012.

P.C. Air currently employs four ladyboys on its staff of 30 cabin attendants, including Thanyarat Chirapatpakorn (“Nong Film”), who won the Miss Tiffany transexual beauty contest in 2007 and currently stars as a model and soap actress.

“When it’s their dream job or the job they love, they can do it even better,” said P.C. Air honcho Peter Chan, according to the AFP. “Our society has changed — it’s evolution. I’m a pioneer, and I’m sure there will be (other) organizations following my idea.”

P.C. Air is fully embracing the publicity generated by their third gender trolly dollies, as demonstrated by their promotional video here.
