Liverpool FC has finalized the time and place of its exhibition match in Bangkok this summer, announcing that they will play at Rajamangala National Stadium on Sunday July 28.
The English Premier League squad has 14 million ardent supporters in Thailand and a special Twitter account (@ThaiLFC) for their upcoming visit. They’ll be launching an official Thai Facebook page and website soon as well.
The Reds last visited Thailand in 2009.
“Our last visit to Thailand was during the pre-season tour in 2009, when we received such a warm welcome from our fans. We first went to Thailand in 2001 and this will be our fourth visit to the country, which we feel demonstrates our commitment to our fans in Thailand. Since our last visit, we have created strategic partnerships to maintain the club’s presence in the region.”
Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers added: “The players who went on the last tour to Thailand are really excited about going back. I’ve heard a lot about the passion and dedication of the fans in Thailand and we plan to bring them some great football.”
Standard Chartered Bank is the main sponsor of the match. Ticket information will be released soon.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Barcelona will also play exhibition matches in Bangkok this summer.
