Muay thai champ Buakaw resurfaces

Muay thai superstar Buakaw Por Pramuk, reported missing last week, turned up in Bangkok yesterday March 12 and gave an interview to Media News Channel to explain his disappearance.

The former Lumpini Fighter of the Year and two-time K-1 champ said in the interview that the atmosphere at his training gym had turned sour since the camp had changed hands from former owner Pramuk Rojanaton to his son Theerapat, The Bangok Post reported. He said that a “poolak pooyai” (important person) in the camp had complained that he was having a “serious headache and a heavy heart because of Buakaw.”

Daniel Fletcher at FightSportAsia said that it was insinuated in the interview that the fighter had been threatened. Fletcher added that it was known that his gym took most of his prize winnings, giving him only 20,000 yen out of the 10 million purse he won at a K-1 competition in Japan, for example.
