With Tony Jaa’s first Hollywood project Fast & Furious 7 currently in production, the Thai action star is busy making additional career moves.
Jaa recently flew to Hong Kong to sign a contract to make an appearance in SPL 2, an HK action sequel from Sun Entertainment Culture Limited.
In SPL 2, Tony Jaa will star opposite Jackie Wu (Wu Jing), who previously played a key villain role in the first movie. Jaa said he is thrilled to be a part of this film which will start its production in early spring 2014.
SPL 2, directed by Pou-Soi Cheang, will shoot on location in Thailand, China and Hong, and feature action choreography from Dion Lam, who was heavily involved with the stunt work in Spiderman 2.
Sun Entertainment Culture plans on screening SPL 2 in Asia, America, Europe, and the Middle East, Manager and Twitch Film reported.
Jaa has been the subject of a few controversies lately: First, a Thai studio boss filed a lawsuit against him over his role in Fast & Furious 7, then he was involved in a family vs. family brawl in which his wife was injured.
