A new app is released that decreases your chance of getting robbed in a cab: Peek your interest yet?
Calling itself “GrabTaxi,” the application detects your location and matches you up with the closest taxi who is not going to reject you cruelly. Just enter your wish destination and the closest taxi driver who also uses the apps will come and pick you up at your door step.
When you book a taxi, the application estimates your cab fare and gives you the contact info, plate number, and mug shot of the driver who accepts your request. You can also track where your driver is so you can get out of the building just in time.
Another function to increase security is ‘Track My Ride’ which allows you to send your location to your friends and let them track your taxi on Facebook, Twitter, Line, and Whatsapp.
If those features sound familiar, it’s probably because GrabTaxi is making its move onto market before the arrival of Uber, which pioneered the call-a-ride application market and has been spreading throughout the world from its beginning in San Francisco.
All of this applies for THB25 charge, which you have to pay to your driver along with the fare.
“GrabTaxi aims to secure passengers’ safety and help taxi drivers to meet their customers. Both parties have to register their information, which can be retrieved if the company receives a warrant from authorities. Also, it’s very useful to contact your taxi driver in case you forget something,” says Panya Wonpuen, Manager of GrabTaxi (Thailand).
The application has been introduced in several taxi companies as the number of registered taxi drivers is increasing. The application supports IOS, Android, and Windows Mobile and was previously launched in Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore, Daily News reported.
