Insert sticker here: LINE hits 300M users (or not)

The stickers must flow. LINE, that smartphone app that has traded human discourse in Thailand for a new type of communication consisting of crying bears and manic bunnies, has hit 300 million users worldwide.

That is double what the app achieved only in April, and about 20 million of those are in Thailand, its second-largest market behind its native Japan.

However, the Japan Daily Press indicates the 300 million number is likely inflated as it includes every download of the app, whether or not people are using it, or the same person has downloaded it to different devices.

Regardless, the app-crafter has created a cute marketing video with those incomprehensible characters they’re certain enough of you will share.
