Motorist plunges seven floors to death from parking lot after apparent loss of control

A woman was crushed to death after her car burst through a barrier in The Mall Bangkapi’s parking lot then flipped midair to land on its roof Tuesday evening.

Rescue volunteers attempted to pull Supaporn Wiangnak from her wrecked Honda Civic, but the 35-year-old driver was already dead.

According to motorist Pranee Chanhom, Supaporn was driving down the ramp to the parking structure’s 3A level of the parking lot and struck her Lexus, then showed no sign of slowing as she plunged through the barrier.

The Mall Bangkapi’s parking lot has an A and B floor for each level, so 3A is about as high as a standard 7-story building.

Police said Supaporn’s husband recently took the car to the shop, and it’s possible the accelerator pedal malfunctioned and she was unable to stop the car, Komchadluek reported.
