Getting out of town for the New Year ? If enjoying the cool weather in one of Thailand’s many national parks is on your agenda, good news: they’ll be free.
Unwrapping yet another present under the junta’s tree, the Department of National Parks announced all sites will be free on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Thailand has 127 national parks, including 22 marine parks, which are home to many threatened and endangered species.
Director General Samak Donnapee said the purpose of free entry is to encourage people to be friendly toward the environment and to enjoy the nature without destroying it.
Samak urged tourists to help keep the national parks clean and strictly follow all the rules.
