A drunk man abruptly climbed into a taxi and would not take no for an answer after being rejected by “40 taxis” at MBK Center last night, if his drunk-cam account is to be believed.
It all started with an act of responsibility on the part of the desperate man, Thongmaieak Phrapaktarachan, who said he was just too drunk to drive his car home.
After being refused by dozens of taxis at the mall, one of the worst places to hail a cab, Thongmaieak got into a taxi, shoved a camera at its driver and demanded a ride to the outskirts in Bang Khae district where his home is.
Man: “If you don’t go, the police checkpoint is ahead. I’ll let them arrest you.”
Taxi driver: “I ran out of gas”
Man: “I’ll fill your tank! I have money. Go to Bang Khae! Go! Turn on the meter.”
Taxi: “Really?”
Thongmaieak offered to pay THB300 for the driver to get gas and said he’d upload the video to YouLike, a popular Facebook page for sharing viral videos.
The most frustrating is the taxi driver acting like he’s a hero to accept the desperate deal.
Man “I tried to get a cab at MBK. Over 40 taxis rejected me!”
Taxi: “But I drove you! If you put this on YouTube, you don’t need to credit my good deeds!”
Thongmaieak said he published video because he wants an answer to a burning question.
“I want to know: What the fuck is wrong with taxi drivers in Thailand? Why won’t you go to Bang Khae?” he said. “I’m drunk, and I don’t drive. I saw a police officer earlier and I told him to go catch the taxis that rejected me. I don’t know what’s going on here. I’d like YouLike to publish my video. Help me, please.”
The video has received over 130,000 views since last night.
