Mahidol exchange students hit the road in round the world tuk-tuk trip

Three French exchange students departed from Bangkok on Sunday to embark on an energy-saving trip home in an electric tuk-tuk to Toulouse, France.

Karen Koulakian, Ludwig Merz and Rémy Fernandes-Dandré, exchange students in a collaboration between Mahidol and Toulouse universities, were last seen in the Northern province of Nakhon Sawan yesterday in their solar-powered vehicle. The students will cover about 20,000 kilometers.

The students, who call themselves “The Pilgreens,” are driving for 120 days across 16 countries to raise awareness about alternative energy. The cost of travel on their tuk-tuk is THB0.7 per kilometer or about THB14,000 for the entire trip.

You can track their movements on their Facebook page.
