A man died and five people were hurt after a bomb went off at 3pm Thursday in Trang.
Ruenrom Road in Muang district, the location of a popular street market, was the site of the blast. It happened a few hundred meters from the Chief of Police of the province’s home, and in close proximity to City Hall and the government offices.

The bomb exploded as vendors were setting up for the day, reported Bangkok Post.
Picherd Viriyanuparbpong, 51, a retired sailor who sold fried dough at a market stall, died during surgery meant to save his life from injuries sustained in the blast.
Another person who was in the area, Wanthanee Viriyanuparbpong, 45, was in intensive care.
The Nation reported that there is CCTV footage of one or two men leaving a bag that contained the homemade bomb. It was placed in a pavilion 800 meters from Provincial Hall, according to Government Spokesman Maj-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd.
Fifty police were quickly sent to the scene to investigate and seal the area.
The investigation is ongoing and suspects and motivations are not yet clear. It is also not known if the blast is related to bombs that went off last night and continue to go off today in Hua Hin, Phuket and Surat Thani.
