A monument to human folly will be repurposed as an icon of human folly tonight by artists who will temporarily occupy it with a lighting installation.
Look skyward around 8:30pm from the Thaksin Bridge area for the best view as a group of artists take over in an apparently unsanctioned installation, according to their announcement.
“This work treats the unfinished building as the monument it is – a monument to human folly and now the denial of impending death. The building itself is a remnant of the implosion of a human construct which was harmful to many.”
The 49-story building once held lofty ambitions before it was abandoned in an unfinished state following the 1997 Tom Yung Goong economic crisis.
