Drug abuse, checkered pasts, nasty comments. Maybe it’s time we adjust our expectations or just accept that few women can live up to society’s beauty-pageant standards.
Yet another surprising, creepy disclosure about a beauty contestant’s past has emerged today and is likely to affect the high-stakes outcome of one of the country’s highest-profile pageants.
Sunannika “Nampetch” Kritsanasuwan, Miss Universe Thailand’s recent second runner-up, is facing a call to step down after a series of raunchy photos purporting to be her hit the internet, along with an anonymous accusation that she worked as a prostitute.
The photos were posted last night online by an anonymous user who claimed to have been Nampetch’s pimp and said the 21-year-old worked for her under a variety of names.
In the images, a woman is shown posing sexually inside a vehicle. She is clothed and alone in most of the images.
The account used to post them was created last month.
Whether real or just a nasty accusation, the photos will likely cement the chance of first-runner up Pimbongkod “Ellie” Chankaew to take the crown after Weluree “Fai” Ditsayabut gave it up Monday. Fai, 22, was criticized for wishing death on a political group and a perception she was “too fat.”
The Miss Universe committee has yet to decide which of the runner-ups will represent Thailand at the international competition.
Warning: While the photographs are not explicit, they do contain some rough language.
