Man rescued from sunken car in Phetchaburi after ignoring flood warning

Police radio JS100 published photos of a man being rescued from his sunken car in Phetchaburi province last night. The province has been suffering from flood for weeks.

The man reportedly ignored the police warning and drove into the area with flooding in order to make a U-turn on Phet Kasem Road.

In the end, he had to be rescued from his sunken car by exiting through the trunk. Luckily, he was not injured.

With Thailand’s prolonged rainy season, the overwhelming amount of water has inundated a large part of Phetchaburi. Almost all roads are submerged, and drivers are being warned not to take their cars out.

Apart from the vehicle drowning, several schools in the province have been closed for at least four days.

Highways, including a section of the Phet Kasem Highway have been submerged under 30-40 centimeters of water. Highway police are stationed to advise motorists to take alternative routes.

The flood situation in the province remains critical, reported Thai PBS.
