Monkey runs into burning house to rescue his goose friend

Showing true courag,e and with his heart bursting with love for his feathered friend, a monkey chained to a tree in Chonburi broke free from his shackles and ran into a burning house to rescue a goose.

Sadly, Michael the monkey and Samlee the goose were both cruelly burned alive in the fire. The interspecies pair had become best friends as pets of 44-year-old human Somsak Puangchang.

A bolt of lightning struck a steel pillar inside the house and started the fire that burned down the home of the two animals and Somsak in Chonburi province yesterday morning.

Before the fire, Somsak said he had chained Michael the monkey to a coconut tree while the goose Samlee was inside as Somsak left his home unattended.

After firefighters put out the fire, they found Michael and Samlee dead in the bathroom.

Somsak is convinced Michael the monkey entered the burning building in a desperate attempt to rescue his friend.

The damage to the house was estimated at THB1 million.

Somsak said he will bury the two animals together under the coconut tree, Michael’s favorite hangout spot, Thairath reported.
