Reporters captured the minute an entire house sank into the Mae Klong river southwest of Bangkok, a loss its owner blamed on passing boats loaded with tourists.
Homeowner Tassanee Piamthong said she had many problems with the unsteady construction of her house in Samut Songkhram due to boats on firefly tours smashing the river bank where it was being constructed.
She added the drought crisis was another factor, as the river has changed and gotten more and more dry this year.
After three years of contention, what Tassanee had been fighting for was ruined in three minutes.
“It was not just yesterday, it’s been three years already that I asked for help!” she said.
Tassanee said she heard a loud cracking sound while she was in the house alone Wednesday. She immediately left minutes before her house was sucked into the river.
Officials promptly cut the electricity and said they would “help her move,” Matichon reported.
