Teenager Pongsiri Mitsatit looks to extend undefeated record at ‘Full Metal Dojo’

Full Metal Dojo 5: “Made in Thailand” will feature the return of one of the most exciting young prospects in the kingdom when it goes off May 9 at Live House in Chatuchak Park.

Pongsiri Mitsatit is still a teenager but has a perfect professional mixed martial arts (MMA) record of 3-0 and is being tipped as a future world champion. He returns to the FMD cage to take on Nattapong Limpwattanachai in a match which is set for the strawweight division.

Originally from Chiang Mai, Mitsatit has established himself as one of the best prospects to emerge from the burgeoning MMA scene in North Thailand. After defeating two opponents in small regional shows he made his FMD debut last November in a thrilling three round war with Payoongsak Singchalad.

Mitsatit was taken down numerous times but was able to overcome the durable Singchalad with a high level striking game which saw him given the nod by all three judges after 15 minutes of frenetic back-and-forth action.

Fans at FMD will get to witness fights at opposite ends of the weight spectrum because while Mitsatit and Singchalad will both tip the scales at a slender 115 lbs there will also be two big Westerners going head-to-head in the heavyweight division.

FMD promoter Jon Nutt and FMD referee Dana Blouin are two American expats weighing close to 230 pounds apiece, and they will face off in the main event. The latter is studying for a PhD at Thammassat University and will be looking to show he has brawn as well as brains.

The rest of the fight card for May 9 will be revealed over the course of the coming weeks but there are set to be two, night tournaments in the 135- and 145-pound divisions with the semi finals and finals both taking place at FMD 5.
