‘Tanman’ saves school band’s dream with his superpower: lots of cash

If rich men are going to dress like ridiculous superheroes, they should probably expect to be asked a few favors involving money.

After a school marching band’s request for funds was rejected by the government, its members made a public plea to Tan Passakornnatee, the flashy head of Ichitan, who agreed last night to help pay their competition travel expenses – but vowed this was the last time.

“We’re here to see Khun Tan, and we need his help,” the teacher of Satriwitthaya 2 school’s marching band said in a video posted to YouTube. “We need THB3.1 million before tomorrow at 9am so we can book our flights and fly on Tuesday to compete. We’re not here to beg. We’re here to borrow, and we promise we will try to pay you back.”

Ponsakorn Lertsakworakul, the 25-year-old teacher, said students of his “Max Percussion Theater” needed the money to fly tomorrow to the United States to compete in an international drumline competition in Ohio. The school’s request for funds from education officials went unprocessed due to the political unrest.

This morning, Tan gave the students THB3.1 million to book their flights but said this will be the last time, as Ichitan is not a government organization, Kapook reported.

Maybe the students can repay the debt with some Ichitan lids.
