The fathers of two police cadets who died during skydiving training last month plan will file a lawsuit against the police officials blamed in a new report.
The two men said they’d sue the officers responsible for equipment maintenance in civil court after the results of investigations into their sons’ deaths were made public this morning.
Police cadets Chayakorn Putthachaiyong and Natthawut Tirasuwansuk fell to their deaths on March 31 while their families looked on at a police training event.
The investigation concluded police officials knowingly sent the trainees up with a parachute system known to be damaged since December, resulting in the two deaths.
Pol.Gen. Jarumporn Suramanee of the Royal Thai Police said although new slings had been purchased for the plane, they had not been replaced before the jump.
Therefore Jarumporn said the blame lie with officiers responsible for equipment maintenance.
The deceased men’s fathers said their lawsuit is intended to make the police take responsibility and ensure safety for future police cadets, Kapook and Sanook reported.
