Nearly one year after she vanished at a festival in Loei province, a 4-year-old girl was laid to rest yesterday.
The funeral was held by the girl’s family, which is reportedly so impoverished it had to borrow a coffin and pick flowers, after DNA tests confirmed remains recently recovered from an uninhabited area matched their missing daughter.
Her murder was among those linked to serial killer “Nui,” who confessed to killing many children after his arrest last month for the rape and murder of 6-year-old “Nong Cartoon” in Bangkok.
Nui was not taken to re-enact the crime – a typically publicized ritual of Thai policework – due to fear that he could not be protected from harm by police, the girl’s relatives said.
Her cremation is scheduled for Friday, The Nation reported.
